The Impact of COVID-19 On How We Deliver Care

Dear patients and friends,

The years 2020-2021 have been monumental for Crossroads ObGyn and Wellness. The COVID-19 global pandemic has radically changed the way that many offices are able to deliver healthcare. Crossroads ObGyn and Wellness has always been a progressive practice and as such we were able to weather the transition to a 100% telemedicine service well since we already offered virtual visits pre-pandemic. However because of the unique circumstances of COVID-19 we were given the opportunity to streamline our telemedicine offerings even further.

During this time it has become abundantly clear that modern gynecologic care can stand up to the rigors of telemedicine although traditionally most gynecologic services have been delivered in person. This proved that the previous tradition of requiring in person office visit for each and every gynecologic complaint is an out-dated model. Our experience during this period has convinced our office that modern technology in fact can allow us to challenge those assumptions as we discovered that we are indeed able to deliver top notch gynecologic care for the vast majority of complaints virtually. With this experience under our belt our practice has made the bold decision to become the first telemedicine based gynecology only practice in the state of Texas.

From routine issues like birth control and discharge to complex complaints like hormonal balance or bleeding issues we are now fully equipped to service all patients in the state of Texas who need gynecologic care but are looking to avail themselves of the convenience of telemedicine. We believe that our practice offers a unique advantage as opposed to other telemedicine platforms such as Doctor on Demand and Nurx. In our telemedicine offering you see the same provider at every visit (just like you would in a regular office) unlike some other services where you get a different provider for every visit. We feel that this model is superior as it provides better continuity of care and offers patients the opportunity to still have a true provider-patient relationship. Having a relationship with a doctor who can know you and your history without asking at every visit can be priceless!

Of course there are certain things that we still will offer in office (like annual gynecologic exams for example) but as healthcare delivery shifts post COVID we are going to be focusing on continuing to deliver excellent gynecologic care to the residents of Texas via telemedicine. We are confident that our office can help you resolve pretty much every issue virtually but we understand if you just aren’t sure that a telemedicine visit is right for your needs. As a large majority of insurance carriers do cover telemedicine typically most patients do not pay any more for telemedicine than they would for an in office service however on certain policies levels of coverage may vary. Our office is always willing to do a benefit verification as well for any patient upon request. If you don’t have insurance don’t worry! We’ve got you covered as well. We offer a sliding scale cost for single specific complaints to a full gynecologic visit that way you never pay for more than you need! We look forward to continuing to serve the women of Texas while still preserving excellent standards along with convenience.
