See answers to the most frequently asked questions (FAQ) below:
Question: How can the doctor see me when I am not located in Houston?
Answer: We use a secure video conferencing software that allows our doctors to come to you. You can have your consultation at work, home or even on vacation as long as you have an Internet connection.
Question: If I have insurance will my insurance cover this type of visit?
Answer: The best place to check for your telemedicine coverage is directly with your insurance company as you may have coverage for this type of service. Now typically secondary to the spotty coverage for this type of service our office would not bill insurance for these types of visits and all charges would be paid up front to our office. However because of the changes in coverage for most insurances because of COVID-19 these services are being paid more routinely so we will be able to bill your insurance. If you have insurance you will still need to pay any applicable copay, co-insurance or deductible. If you do not have insurance we do offer a self pay rate which you are able to see on the scheduling page.
Question: What if I can't afford any upfront charges?
Answer: Our office understands that medical expenses can be expensive. We do offer financing through Med Plan Credit for any services >$250. This company will pay us directly and you will be able to pay them back over the time period and at an amount that you select.
Question: I have a difficult schedule. How hard is it to schedule an appointment?
Answer: It's actually very easy! We try to be very accomodating therefore we offer visit times during the day, after hours and sometimes even on the weekends!
Question: What if I need labs or imaging?
Answer: All patients of our practice are granted the use of a secure and private patient portal as long as they are active with our practice. Any lab or imaging orders that you may need will be directly published to your portal and you will be able to print them out and bring them directly to a lab or imaging facility in your area.
Question: What if I need a medication?
Answer: Our doctors are able to prescribe non controlled medications that you may pick up at your local pharmacy. We do not prescribe any controlled medications via telemedicine (for example pain medications).
Question: How long are visits typically?
Answer: For new patients visits are typically 30 minutes to 60 minutes depending on the complexity of the patient. For established patients doing follow up visits are usually 5-30 minutes or less.
Question: How will the doctor know what's going on with me?
Answer: Once you have booked your appointment you are sent a confirmation email that contains a link that you may use to sign all of your consents, upload your ID and insurance information as well as enter your medical history and complete our specialized intake.
Question: In the case that my insurance can’t be billed for the doctor's visit will I still be able to use insurance for labs, imaging or medications?
Answer: Yes you should still be able to use your insurance for any ordered labs, imaging or medications.
Question: What if I have questions after the visit?
Answer: All patients are able to securely message our office staff and our physician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the patient portal. Our phone lines are also open M-F from 9 am - 5 pm
Question: What if I need emergency services? Would your doctors be able to care for me?
Answer: Our office does not provide emergency services. If you are having a medical emergency you would need to call 911 or proceed to your nearest emergency room or urgent care.
